A year ago, on September 16th, Mahsa (Zhina) Amini was murdered by the morality police of the Islamic Republic in Iran for wearing an "improper" hijab. Since then, her name became the code for the ongoing Iranian people's movement for democracy and human rights, called "Woman, Life, Freedom". On September 16th, 2023, We will honor and remember Mahsa and all the precious lives lost during the Woman Life Freedom movement through a march accompanied by an art exhibition.

>EVENT INFORMATION
The event consists of a march and an art exhibition. We will march from Battleship Oregon Memorial Marine Park to Portland State University Smith Student Union. The march is an approximately 30-minute walk. Please be prepared for possible weather conditions. Announcements will be made in case of any unexpected changes.

The march will end in front of PSU Smith Student Union, which hosts the Mahsa Art Exhibition. The exhibition put on display the artwork of two Iranian women artists as well as an exhibition of posters related to the Woman Life Freedom movement, made by Iranian and non-Iranian artists.

The gathering starts on Saturday, September 16th at 2 PM at Battleship Oregon Memorial Marine Park, 194 Waterfront Park Trail, Portland, OR 97204. We will march after the gathering from this location.

Mahsa Amini Art Exhibition is hosted in the Ballroom (Room 355) of the PSU Smith Memorial Student Union, located at 1825 SW Broadway, Portland, OR 97201.

As we commemorate the first anniversary of Mahsa Jina Amini's passing, join us for a special art exhibition at the Smith Memorial Student Union. The showcase will feature artwork and installations by Iranian artists, both from within and outside of Iran, reflecting the themes of Womanhood, Life, and Freedom. We invite you to visit and extend your support for these powerful messages and the talented Iranian artists behind them.
